Princeton Pre FAM Tour
Our staff had the opportunity to experience a number of amazing event spaces yesterday (3/31/10). We traveled to Princeton, NJ for a run-through of the venues that will participate on the Princeton FAM Tour. This tour will surely show planners all the variety that the area has to offer!
First things first, 3 of our staff members met up with Michael Young from Activities Event Specialists, Mike Levine and Keir Defonzo of Chauncy Conference Center at Chauncy. We toured the facility and admired the renovations as well as the serenity that the facility has to offer. Chauncy Conference Center is fully loaded with beautiful rooms, great food and friendly staff!
Next stop, Miele Showroom! Our arrival at Miele warranted some oohs and ahhs. The showroom is state of the art and lined with beautiful appliances but appliances are just the start of things. Miele is more than meets the eye. They have fully loaded – working kitchens. The way they utilize these kitchens is through cooking classes and teambuilding. Highly trained chefs help guests prepare food while building relationships and the best part about it – you get to eat the food you make!
After Miele our group traveled to Grounds For Sculpture/Rat’s Restaurant in Marlton, NJ. Grounds for Sculpture is indescribable in words; it is something you have to see for yourself. You can purchase boxed lunches to bring with you as you tour the grounds and enjoy the scenery. The grounds have hidden nooks just waiting to be found and breathtaking sculptures. If you visit Grounds for Sculpture you must not leave without a meal at Rat’s Restaurant! Rat’s is named for a hospitable rat character in the book “The Wind in the Willows”. Between food, drinks, and atmosphere, you will leave feeling that you have experienced the complete package. Outdoor seating is available with views that will make you feel like you have been transported to another time.
Our eyes were opened to new and fantastic spaces! One thing is for sure the Princeton FAM will surely be a hit!

Hot Chocolate: A Chocolate Frenzy!
Chocolate-themed party benefits the fight against Lou Gehrig’s Disease

The only thing better than chocolate is chocolate to benefit a good cause! On March 11th, more than 300 chocolate lovers descended on Currents – The Ballroom at Adventure Aquarium to enjoy a chocolate dream come true at Hot Chocolate: A Chocolate Frenzy, benefiting The ALS Association, Greater Philadelphia Chapter and helped to raise more than $40,000 to benefit the more than 950 patients and families The ALS Association serves. One of the most popular events of the year for the ALS Association, attendees indulged in chocolate martinis, a chocolate fountain complete with all of the dipping treats and sampled some of the area’s best chocolate treats while enjoying the underwater views that Currents had to offer. In addition, attendees enjoyed chocolate stations set up in one of the Aquarium’s most popular exhibits - a suspended 40 foot walk-through Shark Tunnel offering stunning views into its 550,000-gallon Shark Realm Exhibit. A special VIP Reception took place from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. VIP attendees enjoyed a private hour and a half reception in the aquarium which was closed to the public! The VIP ticket also included hands on interaction with exhibits, a Critter Talk with Aquarium staff, a meet and greet with Phillip Silverstone TV and Radio “Wine-tertainer”, musical entertainment from Capture the Flag, a raw bar, a pasta bar and much more!
One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the Chocolate Frenzy Award to the vendor with the best table display. More than 10 vendors participated in this contest, going all out to give the attendees a visual treat in addition to their chocolate treats. The winner of the first Chocolate Frenzy award was Cakes and Candies by Maryellen for her gorgeous display of cupcakes and other chocolates. An amazing auction included an array of great prizes! A raffle of delightful chocolate baskets ended the evening’s program. Showing all that you can do with chocolate, there were even several pieces of chocolate art on display throughout the evening.

Every 90 minutes someone is diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s Disease, a devastating neuromuscular condition for which there is no known cause or cure. The ALS Association, Greater Philadelphia Chapter provides support and resources for ALS patients, their families, and caregivers living in the eastern half of Pennsylvania, central and southern New Jersey, and Delaware. The ALS Association is the only national nonprofit organization dedicated solely to the fight against ALS.
