Professional Members of the New Jersey Society of Association Executives (NJSAE) and the Delaware Valley Society of Association Executives (DVSAE) voted this month to merge their two organizations into the new Mid-Atlantic Society of Association Executives (MASAE) effective January 1, 2010.  The historic vote approved new bylaws for MASAE and a merger agreement that will be signed by officers of the new association during the NJSAE/DVSAE Conference & Exhibition, December 9-10, 2009 at Caesars Atlantic City.

“On behalf of the NJSAE Board of Directors and the Merger Task Force, thanks to all our members who voted and provided us with your support and feedback,” stated Ray Saputelli, NJSAE President (New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians).  “Thanks also to the DVSAE Board and Task Force members who worked so hard to finalize this merger agreement. The time, energy, and dedication shown by the leadership of both Societies are to be commended,” added Saputelli.

In March of this year, a joint task force consisting of representatives from both Societies’ Board of Directors met to explore the possibility of a merger.  This Task Force met continuously throughout the spring and summer to evaluate all of the advantages and disadvantages of joining the two associations and to make recommendations to the DVSAE and NJSAE boards on the feasibility of such a merger. Members of both associations were asked for their feedback and opinions.  The response was overwhelmingly positive to go forward with the due diligence process to form a merged society.

“The DVSAE Board of Directors was especially encouraged by the response of our membership to the merger vote and we thank all of you who gave us your comments to help us assess and plan for the new society,” said Michael Taylor, Immediate Past President of DVSAE (National Demolition Association). “There is a lot of work to do to ensure a smooth transition to the new MASAE and I hope members of both societies will get involved and participate in the committee process,” added Taylor.

The merger to create the new Mid-Atlantic Society of Association Executives (MASAE) will enhance and increase the resources available for members' educational, networking, and career advancement. It is the objective of MASAE to provide more and better services to the association management community in the Mid-Atlantic region. Peak Management Solutions for Associations and Patricia S. Koziol, Executive Director, has been retained to provide management services for MASAE to be headquartered in Kinnelon, NJ. The new society logo and plan for 2010 will be unveiled at the 2009 Conference & Exhibition – “Focus on YOUR Future.”  To register to attend the December 9 & 10 event, go to www.njsae.org.
