Regional Gaming Properties & Destinations

Planning a meeting with the perfect space, a choice of dining options, creative networking receptions and entertainment that’s top-notch can be quite a challenge. Finding all those components under one roof may seem nearly impossible.
But there are gaming properties and destinations throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern U.S. that offer everything on this checklist - and more! Properties with endless amenities all in one place are a boon for planners, and the luxurious allure of meeting at a casino resort is incredibly enticing to attendees.
Enter the newest resort casino situated along the iconic boardwalk of the region’s longest reigning destination for those seeking surf, sand and gaming - the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, NJ.
Hard Rock Atlantic City made its official debut on June 28, 2018, set on 17-acres along the seaside resort’s world-famous boardwalk. The hotel, whose brand is widely known for its expansive nightlife, lounges and entertainment, offers lavishly appointed guest rooms and suites with views overlooking the ocean and city.
“The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Atlantic City offers excitement and inventive ways to gather, build a team or inspire a crowd,” said vice president, hotel operations for the resort, Paul Juliano. “It has one of the largest footprints for meeting and event space with a combined total of more than 150,000-square feet. That includes Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena, which is the perfect venue for... trade shows with room for up to 300 exhibit [booths] in 63,000-square feet of space.”
For those searching for a break from business, just a few of the options here include headline entertainment or a concert at the arena, a comedy or Broadway production in the theater, and live music on indoor and outdoor stages in the 400-seat Hard Rock Café.
The culinary team creates innovative cuisine, and Hard Rock has plenty of room for all occasions. The restaurant features menu items for which the franchise is widely known, along with some unique dishes prepared exclusively for this boardwalk location.
An eclectic variety of dining options await, including: Council Oak Fish, which serves an a la carte menu focused on ocean-to-table fare in an elegant dining room; Kuro serves contemporary artisanal dishes, Japanese beers and whiskeys, 30 sake brands and 110 wine labels; Song treats guests to plates from every region of China; Il Mulino showcases an Italian menu.
Meanwhile casual dining tempts the taste buds with choices like the famous White House Sub Shop, Fresh Harvest Buffet, and the YOUYU Noodle Bar.
As a casino resort known first and foremost to its devotion to music, Hard Rock’s gaming floor is infused with the sounds of classic rock-and-roll. Guests also can opt to exchange business suits for bathing suits and meeting chairs for lounge chairs at the property’s swimming pool, while enjoying favorite cocktails.
Rock Spa® and Salon boasts 31 treatment rooms and a salon for a day that’s filled with luxurious pampering. And there are the replicas of rock icons, memorabilia and other treasures on view as guests revel in some of music’s greatest hits at The Rock Shop®.
Hard Rock’s “The Sound of Your Stay” is a first-of-its-kind audio program for hotel guests who want to indulge in a complimentary, in-room music amenity program comprised of three components: Tracks, Picks and Wax.
Tracks® offers the opportunity to download a playlist and listen to favorite artists or to experience cutting-edge musicians. Picks® gives hotel guests the chance to rent Fender guitars, which are delivered right to the room. Wax® allows guests to checkout Crosley vinyl record players along with a collection of records to enjoy during their stay.
From one of the boardwalk’s newest casino additions to one of the mainstay resorts that has been a fixture in Atlantic City since 1981 - Tropicana Casino and Resort. This imaginative casino property has continuously updated and upgraded over the years - all part of an ongoing effort to provide its guests with the most outstanding event experiences.
With $200 million in renovations and expansion over the last five years, Tropicana Atlantic City is a convention and meeting powerhouse that offers everything attendees need for their group function right on property. The resort casino boasts nearly 2,400 guest rooms (including 900 added as part of its Chelsea Tower expansion) and more than 100,000-square feet of meeting space (including its refurbished Ballroom, Grand Exhibition Center and Havana Tower meeting rooms), but that’s really just scratching the surface of all that this property has to offer.
“Tropicana Atlantic City understands and embraces the importance and prominence of dining and entertainment for today’s group agenda,” said vice president of hotel sales for Tropicana, Jim Ziereis. “We’ve had great success with meeting planners who are looking for all-encompassing experiences.”
Tropicana houses a collection of 26 restaurants, including the new Chelsea Five Gastropub with a view of the ocean and a dining experience for every taste. From its outdoor terrace lounge, guests can enjoy beer, cocktails and a “small bites” menu - a great way for attendees to network. Three new dining concepts were added at the property in 2017 by award-winning Chef Jose Garces: Olón, Bar Olón and Okatshe.
The Quarter and The Marketplace at Tropicana are home to some of the most innovative dance clubs in AC for when business is done. Boogie Nights takes attendees on a trip to the era of 8-track tapes with its disco tunes, retro-style furniture and dance floor with a huge disco ball. Kiss Kiss Nightclub is inspired by the neon-fueled nights of Bangkok with bottle service, dancers in virtual cages, plus a kaleidoscope of lip imagery.
Entertainment at the Tropicana Showroom runs the gamut from revue shows and sporting events to Broadway productions and headliners. With 2,000 seats, it is one of the largest showrooms in Atlantic City.
“The Trop” also boasts world-class shopping in dozens of stores, access to the state-of-the-art AtlantiCare Fitness Center, and it is home to the only IMAX® Theatre in Atlantic City.
“Meeting planners and attendees are in for an all-encompassing experience when they book events at Tropicana Atlantic City,” said Ziereis. “Tropicana is the ideal meeting destination with newly renovated hotel rooms and suites, refurbished meeting spaces, many restaurants from which to choose, world-class shopping, unique and engaging group activities and so much more.”
According to Ziereis, to address a high demand for unique and engaging activities among convention attendees, Tropicana now offers Escape AC.
Escape rooms have become increasingly popular among meeting planners as a way to “spice up” conventions, and the rooms are designed to challenge groups to work together toward the same goal. The rooms provide a challenging experience that requires attendees to pay attention to detail and use critical thinking, communication and teamwork in order to “break out.”
“These assets set us apart from the competition,” said Ziereis. “The number of hotel rooms and convention space square footage are important factors for meetings planners when they book their next convention, but the experiences that are available on property that keep attendees engaged also are important.”
In Pennsylvania’s Lehigh Valley Region, the AAA Four-Diamond rated, award-winning Sands Casino Resort is set in Bethlehem’s historical district, close to a number of museums. The 300-room resort boasts more than 15,000-square feet of meeting space and can accommodate everything from smaller groups to larger trade shows. It has on-site audio-visual experts, as well as meeting planners and award-winning cuisine by professional chefs.
Dining options include: Buddy V’s Ristorante; Emeril’s Chop House; Emeril’s Fish House; Burgers and More by Emeril; Chopstick; as well as the Steelworks Buffet and Grill. The aroma of coffee will lead attendees to Croissanterie, while a variety of favorite foods await at Market Gourmet Express. Carlo’s Bakery has an inventory of delicious desserts made from Buddy Valastro’s family-owned bakery that is featured on the TLC series “Cake Boss.”
There’s never a shortage of things to do here. Attendees can see a show at the Sands Bethlehem Event Center, which hosts some of the biggest names in entertainment (Train, Harry Connick Jr. and Martina McBride, to name a few). Vision Bar at the event center, which features popular DJs as well as visits from celebrities, is the ideal spot for enjoying a few drinks before or after a show. Free nightly entertainment, specialty cocktails and signature martinis are served at Molten Lounge. Favorite beverages can be enjoyed at Coil, located in the middle of all of the gaming action.
For those attendees who want to try their luck on the casino floor, there are 200 table games, 3,000 slot machines, and 30 tables in the Poker Room. Those who prefer to bet on the best deals around can visit The Outlets at Sands Bethlehem for shopping.
“After being recognized for outstanding service in meetings by some of the industry’s most highly regarded trade publications, we’ve really set the bar for what an exceptional event should be,” said Sands’ national sales manager, Alyssa Lippincott.
